The Book Blitz Program began over 15 years ago to provide small schools with the opportunity to receive new books on a regular basis throughout the year. The books are current and selected by Angie Burdett, Area 3 Language Arts Consultant as to their relevance for age and curriculum.

At the start of each school year the books chosen for that year are divided into collections, which are then shipped to the participating schools. In early December the first collection received is passed on to the next school on the routing list. Every school then receives the second collection. The same process takes place at the end of March. At the end of the school year, the books are returned to the Winnipeg office where they are catalogued and redistributed.

Feedback forms are included so participants can assist in choosing books or make suggestions as to how to improve the program.
