Two Wanipigow School Students Receive a Manitoba Aboriginal Youth Achievement Award
Wanipigow School and Frontier School Division are very proud of Julian Seymour and Kateri Phillips. Both students were receipts of a Manitoba Aboriginal Youth Achievement Award, presented to them at a gala in Winnipeg on October 29, 2009.
Julian was awarded the Academic Junior Award. Julian is a 16 year old Anishinabe Oshkiniigi youth from Hollow Water First Nation living in Seymourville. He has worked on his leadership skills and participated in career development at Native Communications Incorporated. (NCI FM) in Winnipeg. Julian is a very conscientious student who always does his best. Last year in Grade 11, he had an average of 96%. Julian's future goal is to become a doctor.
Kateri was awarded the Academic Senior Award. She is a 23 year old Ojibwa Oshkiniikwe from Hollow Water First in Wanipigow. In 2008 she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Manitoba, and will earn a Bachelor of Education degree next year.
The Manitoba Aboriginal Youth Achievement Awards annually recognize the outstanding achievement of aboriginal youth.
