Transformation Level

Eco Globe Gypsumville.JPGGypsumville School is the FIRST Frontier school to reach the Transformation Level. This level is difficult to reach, and is one of only two schools in all of Manitoba to achieve this in 2017.

A school community at the transformation level incorporates awareness and action and is characterized by a school-wide culture transformed by an ongoing commitment to the principles and practices of ESD

Highlights of Gypsumville’s Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) efforts include:

• butterfly gardens

• school-wide composting

• building a greenhouse

• hosting family activity events twice a year

• developing a community-wide recycling program for batteries, cell phones, ink cartridges and electronics

 • using the student-led Green Team to spread awareness and encouragement regarding ESD

Another major initiative started by Gypsumville School is the Crayola recycling program. All classrooms: please keep your used markers and send them to Gypsumville!
