The 2017 People's Choice award was presented to Robyn Clarke, grade 11 student from H.B.O.E.R.C. The piece was titled 'The Raven' and the category was 'Drawing'.

This 17th Annual Juried Art Show was a wonderful success! We are so proud of our students and the quality of work which was submitted. The judges were also very impressed.  Several pieces of artwork were purchased by attendees and staff. Grafitti Art Gallery in Winnipeg selected works of art for an exhibit at their gallery which runs until April.
This year, 286 entries were received from 175 students representing 19 schools. The artworks were on display at the Conference venue from Feb 15th to 17th.
Participating schools included Black River Anishinabe, Cormorant Lake, Cranberry Portage Elementary, Falcon Beach (Falcon Lake), Frontier Collegiate Institute (Cranberry Portage), Frontier Mosakahiken (Moose Lake), Gypsumville, Helen Betty Osborne Ininiw Education Resource Centre (Norway House), Joseph H. Kerr (Snow Lake), Ministic (God's Lake Narrows), Peonan Point (St. Martin), Philomene Chartrand (Camperville), San Antonio (Bissett), Stevenson Island, Berens River, Lakefront (Crane River), Minegoziibe Anishinabe (Pine Creek), Rorketon and Wanipigow.
The Division's Juried Art Show is a unique opportunity for students to have their work evaluated and adjudicated by professional artists. Each participating student receives a valuable written critique following the show. Adjudicators award cash prizes in the amount of $75, $50 and $25 (respectively) to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each art medium/grade-level category. On the last day of the show, visitors vote for their personal favourites, to elect the winner of the $100 Peoples' Choice Award.
